Impulse Buying

This morning one of Form #2’s teachers mentioned that another mother in the room has probably just had a baby.  We’ve been expecting that news for a while since we know F2′s friend was to be a big sister any day now.  We just haven’t had confirmation.  It got me thinking about what joy a new baby brings.

Slightly less joyful but still really fun is a new purse.  Especially a new purse for a great deal!  Cut to me shopping on Rue La La last week.  If you don’t know about it yet, Rue La La is one of those members only boutique shopping sites that opens a boutique for a short time, usually right at 3 days, and offers members a pretty significant discount on high end brands and luxury items.  Think everything from 7 Jeans to Yves Saint Laurent.  And because the boutique is open for a short time, this is like impulse buying on steroids.  If you are a serious planner and mull over shopping decisions for days, friend, this is not for you.  If an amazing deal makes you giddy, then this is right up your alley.  This happy day the boutique was Coach.

Coach.

If you know me, you know that I am a sucker for a Coach bag.  Let me introduce you to the newest member of my accessories family.  AKA – my mother’s day/anniversary present.

I love it.  The woven leather, the cross-body style, the size and heft, the short strap option.  Best of all, Mr. Form is so sweet about it.  He loves to give me gifts that I’m so excited I have to write about it.

So there you go.  If you want to partake in Rue La La let me know and I’ll send you an invitation.  Like I said, it runs the gamut from the mostly affordable to the wildly luxurious.  Case in point:

This, my friends, is the Hermes Birkin bag.  For $25,000.  Yes, you read that right.  Twenty Five THOUSAND dollars.  NOT in my financial wheel house.

You can buy a car, or a purse.  On Rue La La you get to choose!

Happy Anniversary (week 17)

(dress – Gap; shoes – Target; bracelets – Banana Republic, QVC, Mall Kiosk circa 2001, my sister; necklaces – QVC, American Eagle; watch – Timex @ Target; purse – Coach ((more on that later))

Recently Mr. Form and I celebrated 11 years of marriage and 16 years of being together.  It was more reminiscent of our earlier years of dating.  Instead of a fancy meal at a grown up restaurant, we ate Chinese food and saw The Avengers.  It was awesome.  We are lucky (blessed) in so many ways not the least of which is that we really still love just hanging out.  The man is truly my best friend and soul mate.

This black dress is a precursor of things to come I think.  Namely, cotton knits.  And I know I’m not alone in this.  My sister runs the show at a super big name store in the city and she tells me they can’t keep knit dresses in stock.  Great minds, people.  Apparently pregnant girls aren’t the only ones coveting comfortable dresses this (early to arrive) summer.  One big difference between me and them (you) might be that I am suffering from…I never thought I would say this…color overload.  Everything in the last few days has been black, white and grey.  Maybe I’ll ease some color in tomorrow around navy and grey ;)

What are you going to wear tomorrow?  Let it be a cute dress!
